TRAVEL TO NAVAL STATION NEWPORT
From the South (New York, NY):
If you drive to Newport from the south, use Interstate 95 to Exit 3, then Route 138 East across the Newport Bridge (toll of $2.00). Bear left after the bridge and turn right at the first traffic light (Admiral Kalbfus Road). Proceed under the highway overpass to the traffic circle. Continue through the traffic circle (2nd right) about three-tenths of a mile to Gate 1 of Naval Station, Newport. Obtain a vehicle pass from the Base Security personnel located just outside Gate 1, (on the right, before the bridge). Turn right at the next intersection (Perry Road). You will come to a fork in the road. Follow the road to the right, crossing a small bridge. Follow this road around the curve to the left; it becomes Meyerkord Street. You will go straight for about one-third of a mile, passing through two stop signs. There will be a large field to your left. Turn left immediately past the field (intersection of Meyerkord and Kollmeyer). King Hall, where OTC is located, will be immediately to your right, with the flagpole across the street. From the North (Boston, MA):
If you approach Newport from the north, use Interstate 93 to Route 24 South to Route 114 (West Main Road), continue south to Coddington Highway (a Burger King will be on the left). Turn right onto Coddington Highway and proceed approximately 1.6 miles to the traffic circle. Exit at Admiral Kalbfus Road (first exit on right out of traffic circle) about three-tenths of a mile to Gate 1 of Naval Station, Newport. Obtain a vehicle pass from the Base Security personnel located just outside Gate 1, (on the right, before the bridge). Turn right at the next intersection (Perry Road). Airlines:
Commercial airlines fly to Providence. Commercial ground travel must then be arranged to Newport. A 12-passenger van provides shuttle service every hour from T. F. Green (Providence) Airport (PVD) to Newport for about $20. Taxi fare from the airport to Newport is approximately $65. No Navy transportation is available from the Providence Airport, which is the closest airport to the naval complex. You will be reimbursed for travel expenses, so save all of your receipts. If you are flying to Rhode Island ensure your recruiter or detaching command provide you with a Government Travel Request.

Automobiles:
You must be protected by liability insurance for personal injury of a minimum of $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident, and $10,000 property damage before you are permitted to operate the vehicle on the Newport Naval complex. Due to the large number of students throughout OTC, especially in the summer, parking can be limited and will be at some distance from your living quarters. Students are not allowed to utilize staff parking areas.
